Become an artistic intern at the Great River Shakespeare Festival!
As an artistic intern at the Great River Shakespeare Festival, you will have the opportunity to:
- work alongside theatre artists from all over the United States and the world
- gain professional artistic experience from a nationally known Shakespeare company
- facilitate educational programming in conjunction with our mainstage productions and Apprentice/Intern project
All of the following are unpaid internships. In most cases, GRSF will provide housing in Winona.
The directing interns (one for each production) have the opportunity to observe and take part in a production from pre-rehearsal research through opening night. Directing interns serve as assistant directors on the mainstage Shakespeare plays, completing research, compiling information, and assisting the director as needed, as well as leading educational and outreach programming in conjunction with the mainstage productions and the Apprentice/Intern project.
The dramaturgy/text coach interns (one for each production) have the opportunity to gain additional experience in textual analysis for Shakespeare. Each text intern serves as an assistant to the text coach and duties include completing research, dramaturgy, and assisting the text coach as needed.
Assistant to the Artistic Director
Serve as personal and administrative assistant to Artistic Director Doug Scholz-Carlson. Likely tasks include maintaining a schedule, taking notes during meetings, errand-running, and helping to aid correspondence.
