Friday July 27 — 6:00pm
The Hula Peppers play ’20s, ’30s and Hawaiian music, reminiscent of R Crumb & the Cheap Suit Serenaders. The band features swing, blues, and novelty tunes from the golden age of the 78rpm.
The Hula Peppers are:
- Dan “Daddy Squeeze” Newton on accordion
- Gary Powell on Hawaiian guitar
- Dave Furniss on resonator guitar
- Corey Mohan on ukulele and musical saw
They are often joined by chanteuse Lauren Asheim, whose operatic training and Betty Boop-like delivery enhances the group’s performance.
