Maud Hixson is a native of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. She was presented as “Best New Voice” in 2003 at the KBEM Winter Jazz Fest, and since then has worked with a wide array of musicians and groups, from the Wolverines to the JazzMN Big Band. She is also the co-founder of the continental sextet French 75, with clarinetist Tony Balluff.
Her musical projects have included the debut presentation of “Coward’s Women”, featuring the music of Noel Coward at the Guthrie Theater; an original cabaret show for New York audiences (thanks in part to a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, one of two she has received); and several recordings. In October she appeared at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall as part of the New York Cabaret Convention 2011, presented by The Mabel Mercer Foundation.
