Front Porch Events

We present our series of special events and symposiums to continue the conversations that begin in the theater, and continue into our daily lives. 2017 Front Porch Events will be announced in March. Below is the listing of our past Season 13 Front Porch events.

Free Festival Events

Pre-Show Conversations

30 minutes before each performance, GRSF teaching artists present an entertaining introduction to the world of the play, the characters, and Shakespeare’s language. Located outside on Performing Arts Center patio, moves indoors in case of inclement weather.

Company Conversations

Join GRSF Company members every Thursday evening in the theater following the performance and every Sunday at 11am at Blooming Grounds on Third Street. Ask questions and find out their answers about the plays, what it’s like to work in the theater, and more!

Generously sponsored by Home Federal.

Narrated Set Changeovers

Observe the GRSF Tech Crew as they transfrom the stage between the plays. Hosted by GRSF Technical staff, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the stage shift from one play to the next, and have all your technical theater questions answered.

Will Reads

Join GRSF for Will Reads each week leading up to the festival season!

Will Reads returns with a new twist–each evening of Will Reads will feature selected scenes from one of the Season 12 plays. Discussion will intertwine with reading, and all are welcome. You can come to listen or take on a reading role–no experience necessary!

Tuesday, June 9: Much Ado About Nothing at Mugby Junction, 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 16: Romeo & Juliet at Blooming Grounds Downtown, 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 23: The Glass Menagerie at Acoustic Cafe, 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, July 8: King John at The Book Shelf, 7:00 p.m.

Tour of Trees

unnamed-17Add a little bit of the outdoors into your weekend! Come and see some of the flowering trees of the Landscape Arboretum at Winona State University.  This year our tours will feature trees such as our early blooming magnolias and later blooming yellowwoods.  Tours will last about one hour and will begin at the Gazebo in the center of campus.  Join us to get your questions answered about trees that you might add to your own landscape, stretch your legs before the Front Porch Events, and discover the beautiful WSU campus!

Where: Winona State University Gazebo

When: 9:30 a.m. on Saturday July 2 and Saturday July 16

The Tour of Trees will meet in Minne 105 if it is raining on tour dates.

Free Concerts (and more) on the Green

All season long, GRSF invites you to enjoy an evening of free music from 5-7 p.m. on the Winona State University Green in front of the theater. Giant yard games, food trucks, and great company are the perfect way to spend an evening before or after taking in a GRSF show.
