The Taming of the Shrew

By William Shakespeare

Directed by Lisa Wolpe

Artwork created by Molly Lyn

If I be waspish, best beware my sting.

Shakespeare’s fierce, energetic comedy is reimagined, reversing the genders of the leading couple, and set in a music-filled saloon in the American West. Kat and Petruchia face off at high noon and gamble on an explosive high-stakes marriage at gunpoint. Directed by Lisa Wolpe, The Taming of the Shrew follows Kat and Petruchia in a joyous romp as they turn chaos into harmony and contentious wooing into solid hope for a wonderful marriage. While everyone around them is caught up trying to trick someone into partnership, Kat and Petruchia turn out to be the only man and woman who have truly – if unexpectedly – fallen in love!

Who you should bring

A fun (or funny!) friend who wants to see something that may be “outdated” get a loving update.

Come Early, Join the Conversation

Please join us outside the theater 30 minutes before each performance for a pre-show conversation with a member of the artistic team for The Taming of the Shrew. Hear about themes of the play or secrets from the rehearsal room, and learn about some plot points that will place you right in the middle of the action from the second the houselights dim.
PLEASE NOTE: There are imitation gunshots used in this production.

Casting announcements will be made in 2020.
