Janice Benning Lacek
Janice Benning Lacek (Costume Designer) M.F.A. UC, San Diego at La Jolla Regional/national/ international theatre highlights since 1987 include projects with La Jolla Playhouse, where she designed the west coast premiere of Jose Rivera’s Marisol, A.C.T. in San Francisco, Syracuse Stage, the San Diego Rep, the American University of Cairo, Egypt. She spent 12 years at the other end of the Mississippi working with Theatre Memphis, Opera Memphis, and the Tennessee Shakespeare Company. Janice has designed over 35 productions of the work of William Shakespeare with the Colorado, Utah, and Oregon Shakespeare Festivals. Former resident designer (and founding company member) of Denver’s Curious Theatre Company 1999 -2009, Janice designed dozens of Curious productions –several regional/world premieres- including Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl and most recently 2017’s The Body of an American, and a new trilogy by Chicago playwright Merideth Friedman. As an educator, Janice has taught costume and theatre production at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Kenyon College, and the University of Memphis. She recently returned to the Front Range of Colorado in 2016 to join the University of Denver faculty. This is her first project with the Great River Shakespeare Festival and her first design for All’s Well That Ends Well.
