Joey Harrington is a second year M.F.A in Design and Technology candidate with a focus in costume technology at the University of Texas in Austin. While studying Spanish and French at Stephen F. Austin University, they were first exposed to theatre costuming as an elective course. After completing their B.A. at The University of North Texas, Joey’s first theatre production was Carter Stubbs Takes Flight, presented by Sundown Collaborative Theatre in Denton, Texas. This opportunity inspired them to pursue theatrical costuming as a career. Joey further honed their craft in Austin, Texas while working as an alterations specialist for special occasion and wedding gowns. During this time they also designed and stitched for Austin’s NunaMaana Immersive Dance Theatre, interned at Zilker Theatre Productions, and stitched for ZACH Theatre.
