By William Shakespeare
Directed by Paul Mason Barnes
Co-Sponsored by Laurie Lucas
“Fair is foul, and foul is fair.”
Spurred by a prophecy from three witches that he will become king, the great warrior Macbeth and his wife hatch a plot to take the crown, starting with King Duncan. But as one obstacle is defeated, others pop up, testing the morality of the Macbeths as they must answer what lengths they will go to to get what they want. It turns out that while getting the crown may be accomplished, keeping it is a different story.
Back on the Great River main stage for the first time since Season 4, the savage world of the Bard’s great Scottish Play is once again brought to life this summer. A swift tale that unfolds in an unforgiving world, Macbeth tells a tale of madness, power, and ambition led by one of Shakespeare’s greatest power couples.
