Youth Performer Auditions for Season 16 (2019)

Youth Performer Auditions for Season 16 (2019)

Great River Shakespeare Festival seeks 5 young performers to play the roles of Fleance, Young Siward and the Macduff children in the professional company production of  Macbeth this summer directed by Paul Barnes.

Type: Young actors ages 8 to 18. For the roles of Fleance and Young Siward we are looking for young actors of any gender who can convincingly play young boys. The Macduff children are boys and girls.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: All young performers will participate in violent scenes using stage blood and choreographed by a professional fight choreographer. In the action, Young Siward will die in combat. The Macduff children are all murdered on stage. While the action will be safely and professionally staged, please discuss with your child the implications of participating in simulated violence. We will have this conversation at the audition as well.

Audition date: Friday, March 15 | 4-6 pm | Home & Community Options First Floor Conference Room (66 E. Third Street, Winona)

Preparation: Please be prepared to read two scenes as Fleance and Son. Not required but encouraged: if you have a monologue by Shakespeare or another playwright, please be prepared to present it. Click here to be directed to the scene cuttings.

Time commitment: Please look at the rehearsal and performance schedule below. We will consider double casting roles so that a young performer would not need to be at every performance. Please do audition even if you have conflicts, but they must be noted clearly on the audition form. Young performers who are available for all rehearsals and performances will have a greatly increased chance of being cast.

Sign up: Please call us at 507-474-7900 to schedule an audition and ask any further questions.
