Cymbeline

By William Shakespeare

Directed by Doug Scholz-Carlson

Co-Sponsored by

“Fear no more.”

When Imogen defies her father King Cymbeline by marrying Posthumus, he is banished to Italy. There he meets Iachimo, a man with a broad claim about women that spurs the men into a reckless wager to test Imogen’s fidelity. The couple’s relationship strained, the quest for truth leads Imogen and Posthumus through disguises, far off lands, wicked stepmothers and war in a world where, like many of Shakespeare’s plays, there’s often more than meets the eye.

This nine person production focuses the larger than life and full of wonder story into an intimate exploration of grace and pride that challenges the audience to understand betrayal at a human level and forgiveness on a radical level.

Who you should bring:

A fan of fairytales that sometimes take the long road to happily ever after.

Come Early, Join the Conversation!

Please join us outside the theater 30 minutes before each performance for a pre-show conversation with a member of the artistic team for Cymbeline. Hear about themes of the play or secrets from the rehearsal room, and learn about some plot points that will place you right in the middle of the action from the second the houselights dim.
And join us on Thursday, July 18th and Thursday, July 25th for a short post-show discussion – a unique opportunity to engage with the cast and creative team about the performance you’ve just witnessed and the themes of the play.
